Feely the Canvas

Today “Feely” (my canvas roll that was leaning against the bedroom wall), decided to fall on the floor to grab my attention.

Feely’s sentiments were hurt. He had been feeling left out this entire winter. He didn’t know where to go and what to do. So today he decided to talk to me about his feelings. Feely: I miss you! When will you put color on me like you used to? Me: I am deeply sorry. Talking about your feelings can help you maintain your balance and deal with times when you feel troubled. I am glad you decided to speak up. Let’s have a color date. Just you and me and lots and lots of colors. Feely: I am really excited. When can we have it? Me: I am going to get my colors, put my painting pyjamas on and wait for the flow!

Feely: Can you explain what flow is?

Me: Flow is a state of mind in which the ‘real world’ goes away, when everything else ceases and one goes in a controlled trance where he/she gets immersed in the present activity. The only thing that matters is what one is doing at the moment. It is rewarding and energising. It is the point when the mind gets clear and creativity starts to flow. Feely: Wow. Can you control it? Me: Yes and no! If you do anything that you love, you can control it otherwise you can’t. Feely: Now may be the time when you start thinking about it! I would like to spend more time with you. Me: You are right. Let’s decide a time that’s convenient for you and me and rest of the family. Feely: Hold your palette knife and dive into me. The more you think ,plan and exercise your mind to find time, the lesser time we will have together. Don’t misunderstand me. I only want to be able to spend more time with you. Me: Let’s sit together and create magic. Feely: Thank you.
